This monthly column analyses some of the tricky issues in the cosmetics industry and describes user experiences from a male point of view. By Ilja Hakala
I have often been impressed by women’s ability to take time out
to spend on their beauty routines. Plenty of time and energy is
dedicated to exfoliants, face masks, toners and moisturisers. I am
not sure whether all of those should be used in the same session,
or if that is even the correct order; all I know is that time spent
on oneself is seldom wasted. Moments spent in the powder room
before the theatre or dinner at a restaurant are reflected in the
composure on the lady’s face, even as far as the foyer’s
sparkling-wine queue.
My observations and quiet scrutiny have led me to teach myself
similar habits. Focusing on one’s own well-being reinforces one’s
positive attitude towards others. The typical Friday-night sauna
and its crate of beer could well be switched for a men’s night in
of pampering once in a while. What could stand in the way of a
group of pals popping open a bottle of bubbly with their faces well
covered in masks?
Lumene’s facial scrub for men is an excellent product. After using
it, the skin feels fresh and soft. It is particularly good before
shaving; it stops the skin from becoming irritated, and the shave
goes more smoothly. Exfoliating is recommended a couple of times a
week. It is especially rewarding to care for one’s skin on
weekends, when there is more time. Elevate your daily skin cleanse
to new levels on Saturday or Sunday, and enjoy your well-deserved “
me time”.
